In yet another variation, Little Red Riding Hood never makes it to grandmother’s house, becoming lost in the woods and remaining lost forever.

Sleeping upon twigs she learns to live among the animals, though she never stops fearing night and all that night stands for.

The Big Bad Wolf, equally afraid of the forest floor, climbs a tree one morning and vows never to come down until he is transformed into a human man by Mother Moon.

When Little Red Riding Hood comes upon the beast having thrown himself from the top of the tallest tree, she buries him, wrapping him in her red cloak and placing bright flowers upon his grave and that is all.

Though they had never met, she senses they’d known each other all their lives.
